“A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
-Steve Maraboli

In today’s world, there are so many negatives. Conflicts between nations, continued debates about C19, wage discrepancies, and the list goes on and on. Most times, it feels like there is nothing that we can do.

One thing that we can all do: eliminate the negatives from our daily habits. Constantly surrounding yourself with negative emotions, people, and events can take a toll on your mental health and well-being.

Instead, look to find ways to be positive in your daily routine. You could:

◾️Complete a deep breathing routine 5-10 mins a day while focusing on a positive word (happy, strong, confident, etc.)

◾️Do something or say something kind to each person you see during the day. The act of serving or praising others can improve your brain’s perception of positivity and become more geared towards these types of activities.

◾️At the end of each day, take 5 mins to right down all of the good things that happened during the day. This will help to refocus you on what is important.

Being more positive during the day also has impressive health benefits. According to a study completed in 2005 noted that having increased levels of positive hopes and curiosities may help to strengthen your immune system, as well as to help your body reach optimal levels of homeostasis for longer periods of time. The authors also noted that this improved level of homeostasis can help to regulate cardiovascular functioning.

But most of all, be kind to everyone. We often lose focus that we do not understand other people’s lives, struggles, and fears. Completing a kind act for someone may be the bright spot in their day. The world can use a little more kindness, a little more love, and a little more healing.
